Doing Some Voluntary Work

July 20, 2009

I’ve been out of the loop in posting articles in my blog. This is for a reason. I have been building a website. This is a church website that has blog, forum, etc content. This is my first voluntary work for non-profit.

I have built this website using the Drupal CMS Platform. I didn’t see any reason for me to reinvent the wheel; so most of the modules I have implemented are out-of-the-box solutions.

This is my first real-world encounter with PHP & MySQL. I’ll probably need to quickly learn how to manage MySQL database. This could be a non-critical system but it is very critical for us to be always up and running. That being said it is important for me to always keep an eye on the system. I am the only guy maintaining the backend of the system – Web Admin, DB Admin, etc. Well, i don’t need to add that I am the only Tech Support guy on the system.

If you ever need a similar system for your church or non-profit organization, let me know. I can be of help. I have built the system myself so I am quite familiar with the process.
