“Cannot load the DLL” Error In SQL Server 2005
Sometimes we need to install a dynamic link library to take advantage of extended stored procedure in SQL Server. So you have installed it through the Extended Stored Procedure GUI. You double checked that the dll exists in the MSSQL\Binn directory. But then when you tried to execute the procedure you received this Error:
Cannot load the DLL C:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn\dllname.dll, or one of the DLLs it references.
[ A related error has been documented here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q151596 ]
Nice! Again you traced back what you did and everything worked out in the development machine. Maybe you’re missing a reference dll. Here’s how you can exactly pinpoint what reference dll you are missing:
You need to download the loadlib.exe and save it on your MSSQL\Binn directory. Then from command line run the executable with this command:
loadlib dllname.dll dllname
An error message should now pop up with the name of the missing reference dll.
You can download loadlib.exe here.
