Microsoft & Yahoo Marriage

MICROSOFT & YAHOO! MARRIAGE

The ONLY Question NOW IS: Together, can THEY beat GOOGLE?

Microsoft is positioning itself to go up against Google by a move to buy Yahoo! Will this venture finally put up a forefront strong enough to beat Google?Quoted:

Microsoft has offered to buy the search engine company Yahoo for $44.6bn (£22.4bn) in cash and shares.”

“The offer, contained in a letter to Yahoo’s board, is 62% above Yahoo’s closing share price on Thursday.

Yahoo cut its revenue forecasts earlier this week and said it would have to spend an additional $300m this year trying to revive the company.

It has been struggling in recent years to compete with Google, which has also been a competitor to Microsoft.”

Well, both are too greedy to do things properly. Yahoo’s usefullness went down when they started charging ridiculous prices for listing in their directory, and Microsoft pretty much destroyed companies it bought like LinkExchange when it started charging for free services (it also destroyed hotmail’s market lead through their greed).

Together, they’d likely be another AOL Time Warner.

Something like Mac and Altavista might work. “small” guys who don’t have an ego problem, working together to find new solutions, with growth ahead of them. That would enable the kind of innovation necessary, but then, even there egos get in the way.

Poor Microsoft, King of our home computers, but not of search engines. This will automatically grant MS 2nd place.

If I owned Microsoft, I would buy Yahoo in a New York minute.

So, what’s next; who will eventually buy-out eBay? Is this where this is leading to?
